'The Fingerspellers' is a stylish yet silly comedy series about a family of deaf gangsters who protect themselves with the power of their hands - firing bullets with their fingers, instead of guns!
The family live in monochrome Metro City during the 1950s, working to support the local deaf community through criminal means, offering them money and jobs to keep them afloat.
'Deaffather' is the head of the family, supported by his children, Sonny and Bella. When he stockpiles a new invention called the Textphone, a feud begins with a rival family called the Operas that threatens the family's monopoly.
'The Fingerspellers' was written by Charlie Swinbourne and directed by William Mager. The series stars a host of deaf actors - Ilan Dwek, Matthew Kirby, Rebecca-Anne Withey, Stephen Collins, Diana Martin, Matthew Gurney and David Hirshman, as well as a host of cameo appearances!
In the second episode of the series, Bella notices the new delivery man looks just like their sworn enemy, Manny Opera - so Deaffather tests him with an intense stare! Later, Bella asks whether a woman can ever be the family's boss, and is startled by her family's reaction. When Cuddles goes out on a routine delivery, he finds himself walking down a dark, cold alleyway, where nothing could ever possibly go wrong. Or could it? Watch it to find out!
