Film Diary: Coming Home

Day Three: 13th July

Louis

Today we've got an extra crew member, Tom. We are filming Sophie driving along a deserted road and later Sophie and Matthew driving on a road near the beach. To do this we need a special mount for the camera which is where Tom comes in.

The setting up of the car mount and the filming seem to take forever...hopefully it'll be worth it.

It's HOT today. David is looking very red! Maybe it's also because we're behind schedule...

Lots of standing about in very hot weather filming a scene with Matthew and Sophie in the car. The script had Matthew's character, Mark, driving Sophie (Kate) around country lanes and getting annoyed with her because they were lost. Problem is that Matthew can't drive. So, script has to be changed and roles reversed. It's ok...but somehow doesn't work as well as Rebecca's script...

Alison

Trying to make sure everyone has water. Also I'm keeping an eye on cameraman, Alex, because, if his blood sugar level drops, he gets a bit tetchy! So at the first sign - I rush out with the chocolate biscuits!

We wrapped ten minutes ago and I've come back to see what Martha has done. Its fantastic to be able to see an assembly of what we shot yesterday - to get a sense of how its looking - and of the performances. Lots of the crew sneak in to look - poor Martha keeps reminding everyone that they're watching an assembly and it's not the final version! She shouldn't worry. It's looking good.
