Sophie Stone - Actress

Sophie Stone

SOPHIE STONE (Kate) recently graduated from RADA although she already had an impressive CV in both television and theatre with appearances in Casualty in 2005 and several productions at the Watermill Theatre. Since then she has been seen in Polly Teale's Mine at the Hampstead Theatre; in the ITV comedy, FM and the feature film Halo Boy. Immediately after completing filming Coming Home, Sophie joined the National Theatre company to play Kattrin in Deborah Warner's production of Brecht's Mother Courage and her Children.

Sophie worked with Mutt and Jeff for the first time earlier this year on a drama short made for the National Deaf Service called In the Middle, which examined the issue of self-harming among young deaf people.

Despite the depressing theme of In the Middle 'it was,' say's Sophie, 'a really great experience working with Louis and Mutt & Jeff, so I said 'yes' immediately when they offered me the role of Kate in Coming Home. I knew the writer, Rebecca Atkinson, from her journalism and the script had a strange haunting quality that I found very appealing. Filming in Suffolk was fantastic - it was so beautiful - and I got on brilliantly with Matthew Gurney who played my boyfriend, Mark. We'd never met before but we just clicked and that made it even more special.'
