Our final guest is John Denerley. Between 2000-2003, John ran the wildlife centre at Churnet Valley Wildlife Sanctuary in Kingsley, near Cheadle in the Staffordshire Moorlands before moving to Scotland to set up and run the Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park. Set in 27 acres of mixed woodland, the park is now home to some 150 different animals. John is committed to conservation and protecting rare breeds and this aspect of the park’s work has expanded in the past few years.

In his spare time, John has been a tireless worker and advocate for the Deaf Community in Scotland. He recently stepped down as the Chair of the British Deaf Association’s Scottish region, known as the Scottish Deaf Association and still remains on the Board of the Scottish Council on Deafness (SCOD).
