About Remark!

Under the Lamp is produced by Remark! Production, established in 1999, and celebrated its tenth birthday in 2009.

Remark! Production is the biggest Deaf production company in the UK and specialises in broadcast, corporate and events. We cover the entire production process in-house, from concept and scriptwriting to filming, editing and graphics.

We take an active role in supporting the Deaf community, and our Deaf staff with ongoing support and training. In the last ten years, Remark! has employed over 120 Deaf people both in front of, and behind the camera. We currently have sixteen full time staff with numerous freelancers with the majority of them Deaf and BSL users.

Remark! specialise in combining the latest media technology with British Sign Language to ensure a high level of accessibility and accuracy in use of BSL on screen. We have won awards for clear communication and accessible media. The majority of our team use BSL as their main method of communication.

In ten years the company has contributed to the production of hundreds of programmes, filmed thousands of tapes and brewed around 94,000 cups of tea! Clients of Remark! include: BBC TV, BSB Sky, Channel 4, Deafinitely Theatre, NDCS, RNID, NSPCC, the Department of Health, and Maverick TV. The company have also worked on Deaf programmes such as Vee-TV (Channel 4), The Vibe (Channel 4), and See Hear (BBC2).
