PRESS RELEASE: Extra Freeview Slot for BSL Zone

The British Sign Language Broadcasting Trust (BSLBT) is pleased to announce that its specially commissioned programmes for the Deaf Community will for the first time be broadcast on Film4 Channel, the UK’s number one film channel. This is an important additional Freeview slot.

Also launching on Monday 6th September 2010 are new transmission times on the Community Channel.

This will see the BSL Zone being broadcast four times a week across four different channels.

The new transmission details are:

Mondays at 8.45am on Film4 (Freeview channel 15)
Tuesdays at 2pm on the Community Channel (Sky 539; Virgin TV 233)
Thursdays at 7.30pm on the Community Channel (Sky and Virgin as above)
Saturdays at 7.30am on the Community Channel (Sky and Virgin as above)

BSLBT was established in 2008 to increase the amount of sign-presented programming on Digital Terrestrial Television. The BSL Zone went live on the Community Channel on January 21st 2009 and BSLBT has commissioned more than 60 sign language programmes in 18 months.
